Intelligence Report
Normally you'd be getting a report like this from the Captain, but with Confed's ever-changing procedures and red tape on most things that have to do with the bugs, Intelligence is required to fill in the pilots directly on what they're doing, and what they're shooting at.
Allow me to introduce myself, for all you newcomers or regulars that don't get around much; my name is Anthony "Overload" Summers. I'm the director of the Tactical Intelligence here on the Midway. My job is to make sure we give you accurate and proper information, that way you blow up, kill, and shoot down the right stuff. Now, yes, I am a pilot, but I specialize in information and tactical strategy. This is a new kind of war we're fighting, and we need good intel to fight it. Science Division and Tactical Intelligence will do our best to provide that.
As you might already know, we're heading to the Tartarus system. It's a Border Worlds territory, but there hasn't been any Border Worlders there for a while. The entire system has been quarantined, due to the massive amount of infections occurring in the system because of dead alien space junk. Since it's been abandoned, the bugs have started using it freely, massing their fleets there where they have been undisturbed. We're going to change that.
Now, normally fleet actions against the bugs are tight-lipped and classified, but because the Midway has a superb reputation, coupled with the opportunity to mend Confed/Border Worlds relations after the whole Black Lance Crisis, TCN can't shut up about what we're doing.
Once we clear out the system, Confed's going to team up with the Border Worlds to help decontaminate the system. Should help regain stability in the Union, and knock the bugs down a notch.
First things first, though. We can't go around just blowing up everything in sight. We have to take steps to weaken the bugs, before we take on some of the bigger bugs. Recently we've identified some new bug craft, classified as Cuttlefish. They're drones, but extremely deadly. They've been in Tartarus in great numbers, so we're going to take them down and whatever keeps manufacturing them. We've also identified some supply chains, mostly Tritons and Barracudas. Taking them down will seriously hurt the alien's forces in this system.
Good luck out there.
